It’s the perfect solution for people like me who need to be comfy and cosy, and the rest of my family who are just so excited by the adventure that they do not care what the sleeping arrangements are. This is why I have to take the bookings into my own hands!

So, what really makes a glamping site a hit with the whole fam? The first, and one of the (many) important boxes to tick for me: space is key.
I’m talking roomy tents, pods, or lodges that don’t make you feel like you’re playing a game of human Tetris every time someone needs to use the loo in the middle of the night.
Nothing kills the camping vibe faster than constantly tripping over each other’s stuff.
On-site activities and amenities are another consideration. You might think you can rough it with the kiddos, but having a highchair or a cot available can be a lifesaver. And the best family glamping sites offer a range of activities for different ages.
When it comes to food, having options is crucial. While it’s fun to roast marshmallows over a campfire, you’ll want more substantial meals at some point. Some days you might feel like channelling your inner camp chef, other days you just want someone else to handle the cooking. 1. Chewton Glen in Hampshire
Best For: Treehouse Glamping
I’ve been contemplating a treehouse escape for ages, but have always held back in case it’s not completely safe for babies or toddlers. I also didn’t want TJ finding it at all scary or uncomfortable.
That being said, the treehouses at Chewton Glen are seriously next-level.
We’re talking all out luxury, and not some rickety shack slapped together with a few planks. The treehouses are perched high among the trees, with floor-to-ceiling windows that’ll make you feel like you’re living in the canopy. The views are absolutely stunning, especially at sunrise when the mist rolls through the forest.
The design of these treehouses is pretty incredible. Chewton Glen has thought of everything, and managed to make them feel both cosy and spacious at the same time. You have a proper little kitchen, a hot tub on the deck, and even underfloor heating for those chilly mornings.
If you’re on the fence about treehouse glamping with kids, especially at a place like Chewton Glen, just go for it. It’s one of those experiences that’ll stick with you. Just be prepared for the inevitable “Can we live in a treehouse forever?” questions that’ll follow. You might actually find yourself asking the same thing…
2. The Nest Glamping, Lincolnshire
Best For: Luxury Lakeside Retreats
The Nest is based in a secret location near Southorpe in Lincolnshire (you get given the exact location upon booking). It’s one of those trips where you’re not quite sure what to expect, but it’ll end up blowing your socks off.
When you’re thinking about a glamping trip, but you have two kids under 3, and a dog that thinks he’s human, finding the right spot can be tricky. The Nest ticks all the boxes.
First off, the location is stunning. The large lodge style safari tents are right beside a gorgeous lake, and you’ve got views for days of the Lincolnshire countryside. It’s the kind of place where you can’t help but feel relaxed, even with the kids running around like lunatics.
There are three lodges in total, each sleeping 6 people across a king size master bedroom, a king sized cabin bed, a twin room, and the possibility to add 2 cots per lodge.
The lodges are not your average safari tents, and perhaps nicer than some hotel rooms! You’ll have your own hot tub, and a fire pit for toasting marshmallows.
One thing I was worried about was the bathroom situation. I’m not exactly Bear Grylls, and the thought of traipsing across a field in the middle of the night is something that lost its appeal in my teenage years.Thankfully, the lodges have their own en-suite bathrooms!
The kitchen space is a lifesaver too. It contains everything you’d need to whip up meals. And it means being able to stick to your usual routines, which is always a bonus when you’re travelling with kids.
During the day, you can keep everyone entertained with hikes, bike rides, and relaxing by the beautiful lake. The countryside around The Nest is gorgeous, and there are loads of trails to explore. Lincoln Castle is a short drive away, and a great spot for a family day out.
Now, I’ll be honest – if you’re after a place with loads of organised activities and entertainment, The Nest might not be your cup of tea. It’s more about chilling out and enjoying nature. But if you’re up for going full countryside chill, bringing your dog along, and spending your evenings around the fire pit, telling stories and looking at the stars… you’ll be in heaven.
3. Port Lympne Reserve, Kent
Best For: Wild Animal Encounters and Luxury Lodges
You may well be a bit sceptical about a glamping trip in a safari park, but Port Lympne will blow your expectations out of the water.
The lodges are set right in the heart of the 600-acre wildlife park, and the views are just something else. Waking up to see giraffes and rhinos roaming around outside your window is another level of cool!
One of the best things about Port Lympne is the exclusive access you get to the reserve. You’ll be given your own golf buggy to zip around in, and the rangers can take you on incredible guided safaris to see the animals up close.
The educational side of things is really impressive too. The reserve has amazing programs where you can learn all about the different species and conservation efforts. Your little ones will be totally engrossed, and you may pick up a few interesting facts yourself!
Of course, this type of experience comes at a higher than normal glamping trip pricetag. But for a special occasion or a real once-in-a-lifetime trip, it’s worth every penny.
One thing I will say is that it’s worth doing your research on the different accommodation options. They have everything from Tiger Lodges to Bear Lodges, to treehouses, each with their own distinct vibe.
The on-site restaurants and cafes are fantastic, and after a big day exploring you have delicious dining options waiting for you.
If you’re looking for a truly unique glamping experience that the whole family will love, I can’t recommend Port Lympne enough.
4. Longlands, Devon
Best For: The Ultimate Glamping Adventure
The safari tents at Longlands in Devon are like five-star glamping suites straight out of a magazine. Proper beds, fancy furnishings, and enough space to swing a cat (not that I’d recommend that, obviously). It’s the perfect balance of that outdoor, back-to-nature vibe with all the creature comforts you could (and I definitely) want.
One of the best things about Longlands is all the adventure activities you can get involved in with the kids. Between the wildlife spotting, the campfire building, rowing on the boating lake, you’ll all be worn out by the end of each day in the best possible way. In to the idea of fishing? You can even borrow a rod catch some rainbow trout for supper!
The communal areas on the site are brilliant, and there’s an on-site farm shop so you can stock up regularly.
One thing I will mention is that Longlands is particularly well-suited for large groups and big families. The safari tents can sleep up to eight people, which is perfect if you want to plan a getaway with friends or an extended family celebration. Just make sure you book early, because these bad boys get snapped up faster than you can say “pass the s’mores.”
Given the spaciousness, it can get bit chilly in the lodges when the temperature drops. Thankfully, the team at Longlands has thought of everything, and there are heaters and extra blankets on hand to keep you cosy all year round.
All in all, Longlands is the kind of place that reminds you how much fun camping can be when you have all the luxury trimmings.
5. Loveland Farm, Devon
Best For: Family Glamping By The Sea
Another Devonshire dream: Loveland Farm in Devon – the perfect eco-retreat for families looking for a glamping adventure by the sea.
A vision of Husband and wife fashion designer team Jeff and Karina, as soon as you spot the glamping pods nestled among the rolling hills, you realise you’re in for something special. The fact it’s all a stone’s throw away from the beach is the icing on the cake. Who doesn’t love the sound of crashing waves lulling you to sleep at night?
The amenities when it comes to glamping are always a worry for me, but Loveland Farm ticks all the boxes with comfy beds, proper cooking facilities, and en-suite bathrooms. It’s glamping at its finest.
One of the best parts about the location is how much there is to do, right on your doorstep. You can head down to the beach, or out on one of the gorgeous coastal trails that wind their way through the countryside. The views are nothing short of breathtaking
And the food…! Being right by the sea means you can sample all the freshest, most delicious seafood imaginable.
One thing to keep note of is the weather, which is a bit of a wildcard on the Devonshire coast. One minute it’s gloriously sunny, the next you’re hunkering down against a fierce Atlantic gale. But that’s all part of the adventure, in my opinion. Just pack plenty of layers and waterproofs just in case!
6. The Hideaway at Baxby Manor, North Yorkshire
Best For: Eco-Friendly Glamping
Baxby Manor is a peaceful, grounding North Yorkshire escape where you’ll be surrounded by rolling hills, wildflowers, and the sound of birdsong. Located just a stone’s throw away from the North York Moors, all outdoor adventures are within easy reach. You can hike, picnic, get lost in a maze of wildflower meadows…
The pitches are huge ao you have privacy and space. When it comes to the accommodation, all are eco-friendly luxury but you can choose between ‘Hoglet Houses, Eco Pods, Family Glamping Pods, and Kabinas, all different sizes and with their own unique personalities. In each you’ll get comfy beds, a kitchenette, and a private deck. It’s all about glamping in style, without sacrificing that back-to-nature vibe.
One of the things that really sets The Hideaway apart is their commitment to being eco-friendly. Instead of traditional toilets and showers, they’ve got amazing composting loos and solar-powered facilities. It’s a whole different experience, and it might be a bit too ‘camping’ for some, but everything is clean and it just adds to the sense of adventure.
Depending on your expectations for the trip, the limited Wi-Fi situation will either be a pro or a con. But a little detachment from screentime is no bad thing, hey? It lets you get creative with old-school entertainment for the kids!

7. Great Langdale, Lake District
Best For: Views That Will Blow You Away
Great Langdale in The Lake District’s Ambleside is nothing short of stunning.
Picture this: you unzip your yurt (or shepherd’s hut, or eco pod – take your pick!) and BAM! You’re hit with a view of Scafell Pike and Bowfell that will blow you away.
The glamping pods are great – including double beds, comfy fresh linens, en-suite bathrooms, and even a little kitchen. Given they’re open all year round, the underfloor heating is a godsend when the weather decides to do its typical Lake District thing and chuck it down.
One thing that is fantastic about Great Langdale is the variety of accommodation. You’ve got your solar-powered eco pods under the trees, gorgeous Long Valley Yurts, and luxury Herdy Huts.
When it comes to dining, it’s well worth taking a trip to the nearby Sticklebarn pub. They have a menu focused on amazing local produce, and the gins and ales are home brewed.
One of the best things about Great Langdale is how it caters for everyone. You’ve got your fancy pods and huts for us glampers, but there’s also space for proper campers to pitch up if that’s more your style. It creates a great community vibe.
If you’re after a family glamping experience where the accommodation is decent, and the views will make your jaw drop, this is it.
